Why did I accept a short-term contract with NFF

Jose Peseiro, the head coach of the Super Eagles, has addressed his choice to take a short-term deal with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The previous deal for Peseiro expired at the end of June.

The 63-year-old just signed a new six-month contract that will expire at the end of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which Cote d’Ivoire will host from January 13 to February 11.

The Portuguese indicated that his choice was motivated primarily by a desire to win the AFCON.

“Me and my staff did everything in order to stay here to train these players and reach the big goal – win the AFCON title,” Peseiro was quoted as saying by Brila FM.

The Super Eagles had previously won the AFCON title three times.
