Rio Ferdinand, a former Manchester United defender, believes Arsenal will challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.
Ferdinand was speaking on TNT Sports following Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Brentford.
Following a 1-1 draw between Manchester City and Liverpool in the early kick-off, Mikel Arteta’s men moved to the top of the standings with 13 points.
According to Ferdinand, Arsenal’s center-back combo of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes gives them a title-race advantage over Liverpool.
Arsenal has the finest defense in the Premier League so far this season, with only 10 goals conceded in 13 games.
“The two center-backs will be the reason why I would put them ahead of Liverpool in the title race to challenge Manchester City.”
“Because you can trust those two implicitly at the moment,” Ferdinand explained.
