Hundreds of women marched to the Kano State Police Command to express their outrage at the recent decision by the Court of Appeal to overturn Abba Kabir Yusuf’s election.

The women, who carried placards and chanted songs in support of Mr Yusuf, claimed they were protesting the alleged injustice done to the people of Kano State by the appellate court.

Starting from Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s home on Miller Road, the demonstrators marched peacefully to the Kano State Police Command Headquarters in Bompai, where they delivered a letter of protest.

However, they were taken calmly to their destination in the Bompai region after being intercepted by teams of police officers and personnel from the Nigeria Correctional Service.

Most of the women were hiding their faces behind red veils as they stormed the Kano State Police Command Headquarters, demanding an audience with Commissioner of Police Usaini Gumel.

Many other messages, like “Our mandate must be restored,” “Injustice exposed in CTC,” and “Kano voted for Abba,” were printed on the signs.

To paraphrase one of them, Zuwaira Abubakar: “The protest is not for Abba alone but for Kano State. The results of the March 18th elections showed that Governor Abba was elected. It’s not fair to strip him of his citizenship.

.

A second demonstrator demanded that the administration stop “interfering with the courts” and let justice be carried out.
