Despite not being married, Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo says she and her lover, music executive and concert promoter Paul Okoye, nicknamed Paulo, are quite happy together.
She explained that the couple doesn’t want to tie the knot since “marriage is overrated.”
The two-time mom shared her thoughts in the most recent episode of her show, Iyabo Ojo TV, which featured Charly Boy as a guest.
She said: “I am enjoying my relationship. I’m having a good time. Thankfully, Paulo Okoye shares my anti-marriage sentiments. We think it’s a bit exaggerated.
“I agree with you that marriage is overrated,” Charly Boy said. In a recent phone call, my son asked, “Dad, why can’t people have a contract and say we will just do five years in marriage and if we are lucky and happy, we renew the contract?”
Since today’s marriages are so different from the ones our parents entered into, various coping strategies are necessary. The marriage is a bit confused right now. And nowadays, folks tend to be a touch more independent. Nobody wants to serve anybody. Everyone seems eager to acquire one. That’s when we run into trouble.”
