Kayode Egbetokun, the IGP of the Nigeria Police Force, has said publicly that the NPF does not have a service program.
On Friday, Egbetokun revealed this information while speaking to the Kwara State Command’s police force.
The Inspector-General was responding to rumors that police officers who enter the force as constables have no chance of being promoted to superintendent.
Since the NPF was founded so long ago, IGP Egbetokun has revealed that his only goal is to develop a service plan for the organization.
Since the method has not been spelled out, police officers have no idea when they will be promoted, according to him.
A rumor has it that if you join the police force as a constable, you will never be promoted to inspector, he explained. Let me elaborate. There is currently no police service plan in place. When I became the IG, one of the things I said I want for the police is to create a service system.
Each officer’s career path will be laid out in detail in a service scheme. Since you’re entering the police force, you can anticipate your future advancement. You will be informed of any upcoming promotions. When your next promotion is approaching, you’ll know about it.
“If there would be something like, ‘if you join as constable, you will not move beyond inspector’, I will not support that it starts with the present officers that we have. If we do this, it will imply that we are starting from the bottom up, with a brand new group of constables who are aware that their career path in the police force will end at the inspectorate level.
It’s not fair to say that those of you already in the system will remain at the inspectorate level forever. So, obviously, it won’t take place.
