Yeni, a media personality and the first child of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, has spoken up about the time her romance ended because of her famous father.
Yeni recently told Daily Trust that she felt uncool since she was Fela’s offspring.
The famous performer also shared the story of a woman who dumped her brother Femi after she discovered he is Fela’s offspring.
She explained, “When Femi’s girlfriend found out he was Fela’s son, they broke up with him.” My cousin was advised by a female not to introduce her to people like Fela’s family.
People avoided us since Fela was frequently incarcerated during that time. However, I can state that being Fela’s child then and now are two very different things. Being Fela’s offspring was not a nice thing back then, but now that I’m an adult, I’m proud of the fact that I’m Fela’s offspring. A transitional period has passed for us.
She continued, “I recall one guy whom I found quite attractive. He was great, and I even liked his mother, but she had me leave their house. ‘Don’t come near my son again,’ the mother screamed. You’re out to ruin my son’s future.
