Gov. Alia is reassured by COAS that military will tackle insecurity in Benue

Nigerian Army troops will resolutely handle security difficulties in areas of Benue and neighboring states, according to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.

During his courtesy visit to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia at Government House Markudi, the COAS reportedly made the guarantee, according to Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director, Army Public Relations.

Lagbaja expressed his gratitude to the Benue state administration, the people of Benue, and the governor for the friendly connection that exists between the state and the Nigerian army.

Alia responded by praising the soldiers for their sacrifices in keeping the calm in the state and promising that his administration will continue to back efforts to make the military more effective in protecting civilians and their property.

Meanwhile, in Doma, Nasarawa State, the Chief of Army Staff paid a working visit to the 4 Special Forces Command of the Nigerian Army.

The Army Chief spoke to the soldiers in Doma and praised their courage and sacrifice as they served their country. He strongly encouraged them to fulfill their statutory duties with the utmost professionalism.

During his visit of the Nigerian Army Barracks Doma, the COAS reassured the troops that the Federal Government and the Army High Command are working to improve infrastructure amenities and offer combat enablers so that troops can fulfill their responsibilities to the best of their abilities.
