The Super Eagles’ dismal performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers will be discussed during a meeting between Nigeria’s sports minister, John Enoh, and head coach, Jose Peseiro.

The Super Eagles’ first two matches were drawn 1-1 against relative unknowns Lesotho and Zimbabwe, respectively.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) was reportedly considering firing Peseiro.

But Enoh promised to bring in the Portuguese to settle the dispute.

“The coach and I are going to have a meeting sometime next week,” Enoh said reporters in Abuja.

The results of these matches, particularly the ones that qualify for the World Cup, are the basis for all of that.

Not only that, but Enoh cautioned against firing the 63-year-old just months before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

.

The national team is failing to meet expectations, which worries me as a minister, he continued.

“We need to exercise caution in making decisions because AFCON is coming up quickly.”
