The 70 cars that the National Examination Council (NECO) has purchased will remove the logistical obstacles that frequently impede the efficient administration of its examinations across the nation, according to Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the organization’s registrar and chief executive officer.
Additionally, he reaffirmed the council’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of honesty and operational excellence in its work for the benefit of Nigerian children via constant innovation and improvement.
During the commissioning of vehicles and other council projects in Minna, Niger State, Prof. Wushishi made this disclosure and declared that the vehicles will ensure the smooth conduct of NECO exams.
Newly built classrooms for the NECO Staff School’s senior secondary section, a NECO Data and Scanning Centre, a NECO driver’s pool, and the NECO e-verify app for student verification and confirmation are among the other projects that were unveiled.
Professor Wushishi elaborated that three new state offices—one each in the states of Gombe, Katsina, and Kogi—are presently 70 percent complete as a result of NECO’s efforts to address the problems caused by insufficient state offices.
Noting that the National Assembly had allotted funds for the construction of seven more state offices in Nasarawa, Rivers, Lagos, Sokoto, Taraba, Jigawa, and Abia, the NECO registrar also revealed that the council has not gotten any funding for fifteen years.
“The Minister of Education will soon perform the groundbreaking ceremony of the seven offices,” he promised. Being included in the capital budget after such a long time is a major milestone for NECO. We owe a great debt of gratitude to the Minister of Education, whose unwavering support for the council’s goals and efforts has been vital in our success.
Prof. Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education, was represented by Permanent Secretary David Andrew Adejo in his remarks. Prof. Mamman praised the acquisition of 70 new vehicles, saying they will be instrumental in the success of NECO exams in the country.
It will aid in avoiding leaks in the NECO exams, he said. With the understanding that education is fundamental to every community, the administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu would make every effort to bolster the council through the allocation of funds in the 2024 budget.
