Xabi Alonso, manager of Bayer Leverkusen, has stated that Parik Schick is capable of standing in for Victor Boniface if he travels for the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
The Super Eagles are anticipated to call up Boniface for the competition.
With Taiwo Awoniyi of Nottingham Forest about to undergo surgery, the 22-year-old is nearly guaranteed to make the final squad.
Boniface will be missed by Leverkusen, where he has been in excellent form since joining in the summer.
Alonso, on the other hand, is unconcerned with Boniface’s disappearance.
“The competition will take place from January 13th to February 11th. We’ll have to wait and see.
“Patrik is in a good mood, he is strong, and with him, we are not in a hurry,” he remarked, according to Sports Bild.
Schick, 27, has been out with an injury for Die Werkself but has returned to training this week.
