North Eastern governments kick up regional meeting, petition FG for train lines

In Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, governors from the North East states have begun their regional summit to lobby for improved rail service in the area.

The governors of the six states in the zone are currently meeting in the Banquet Hall of Government House in Yola.

During Saturday’s inaugural ceremony, Borno State Governor and Forum Chairman Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum emphasized the importance of working together to address the region’s problems.

Zulum lamented the “deplorable condition of the roads, lack of functional rail lines, and under-utilization of the waterways” in the region, pleading with the Federal Government to help the zone solve its challenges.

According to HEALTHYSPOT101 there is no operational train line in any of the North Eastern states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, or Yobe.

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri made opening remarks, praising the North East Governors Forum for bringing much-needed attention to the region since its establishment.

The meeting now taking place is the 9th in the series conducted by the North East Governors Forum since inception.
