The VP of MOUAU has petitioned the NUC to reinstate previously de-listed courses

Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) Vice Chancellor Professor Maduebibisi Iwe has formally requested that the National Universities Commission (NUC) reinstate a number of courses that were previously delisted from the institution.

Saturday night’s 11th annual convocation was the setting for the Vice Chancellor’s passionate plea.

Iwe who characterized the loss of the the courses as one of the key difficulties facing the University, bemoaned that the circumstance has barred teeming admission hopefuls from pursuing their favorite courses in the university.

The VC also requested that the N10 billion take off monies proposed by the Presidential Visitation Panel for 2016-2020 be made available.

According to the MOUAU VC, the university has achieved great strides in research and innovation during his tenure, with 121 out of 8369 graduating students earning First Class status and Nicholas Chukwuka, a student in the Computer Engineering Department, earning the highest grade point average (4.90).

He warned the school’s students against coming in late upon restart, saying that their tardiness was disrupting the academic schedule.

We also strongly suggested that all tuition and fees be paid directly to the university.

It has been noted that “even when they return, some of them play around and indulge in wasteful activities while lectures are going on.”

In his remarks as the University’s Visitor, President Bola Tinubu lauded Michael Okpara University of Agriculture’s administration and faculty for their dedication to achieving the university’s stated goals despite the difficulties facing Nigeria at the time.

Garba Sharabutu, the Executive Director of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, spoke on Tinubu’s behalf at the convocation. He noted that Nigeria is currently facing the challenges of diversifying the economy, but emphasized the importance of having the support of agricultural scientists and experts in order to achieve this goal.
