Bounty of N50 million set for assassins of government accountant by Ogun

On Friday, the government of Ogun State announced a reward of N50 million for information that could lead to the arrest of the assassins of Taiwo Oyekanmi, the state’s director of finance and administration.

On November 29, a group of armed bandits stormed a bullion truck carrying government funds in Abeokuta, killing Oyekanmi, an accountant working for the governor’s office.

Ascending an overhead bridge near Kuto, around five masked assailants seized the bullion van and allegedly began firing at the accountant.

It was also reported that the criminals, armed with sledgehammers, stole the cash after smashing the door of the bullion van.

Reports indicate that Oyekanmi passed away after being transported to the State Hospital in Ijaye, Abeokuta.

After the burial, Governor Dapo Abiodun issued a directive to the security forces to apprehend the perpetrators.

Even though it’s been over a week since the murder, no one has been taken into custody.

Police have set up roadblocks within a short distance of one other, according to a DAILY POST reporter, which is making people anxious.

The declaration was issued by Tokunbo Talabi, the Secretary to the State Government. The government assured that any submitted information would be handled with the highest confidentiality.

On November 29, 2023, in Abeokuta, the state’s Director of Finance and Administration (DFA), Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, was assassinated. The Ogun State Government has set a reward of fifty million naira for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
